Bronze reindeer figurine. Aristotle and Theophrastus mention in their writings, an animal of the deer family that lived in Scythia and was called "reindeer". We have evidence of reindeer domestication from the Paleolithic era. The reindeer is also mentioned in a treatise by Julius Caesar, in which a kind of deer is described that bears horns that resemble the branches of a tree. Iran 13th -12th c. BC. Reindeer miniature. Aristotle and Theophrastus mention in their writings, an animal of the deer family that lived in Scythia and was called "reindeer". We have evidence of reindeer domestication from the Paleolithic era. In the wider area, the so-called Eurasia, ancient nomadic peoples, who spoke Iranian languages, lived at that time. Aristotle was a teacher of M. Alexander (342-335 BC) and well-travelled. The reindeer is also mentioned in a treatise by Julius Caesar, in which a kind of deer is described that bears horns that resemble the branches of a tree. Iran 13th -12th cent.BC.  Figurines of this type have been found at Marlik, which is a Late Bronze Age prehistoric site located in Gilan Province, northern Iran. 1400 / -1100 (2nd half 2nd millennium BC).
